13 Things to Do With Toddlers in Dubai, Indoors and Out
Published 20 March 2026 · Updated 16 October 2026 · By Gymbo, Lead Teacher at Gymboree Play & Music Dubai
In short: The best things to do with toddlers in Dubai mix cool indoor places for the hot months (aquariums, an indoor rainforest, play classes) with free outdoor ones for cooler days (parks, beaches and seasonal gardens). Below are 13 ideas, with notes on which suit under-3s, which are free, and which work in summer.
It's Saturday morning. Your toddler has been up since six, the living room looks like a toy shop exploded, and you need a plan that gets everyone out of the house without a meltdown (yours or theirs).
Finding good things to do with toddlers in Dubai depends a lot on the season. From roughly May to September you'll want air conditioning. From October, the parks, beaches and seasonal attractions come back to life. This list covers both, with a mix of free and paid options. Opening times and rules change, so check opening times before you go.

13 things to do with toddlers in Dubai
1. Join a toddler class at Gymboree, The Springs Souk
A class gives your toddler something a day out can't: the same songs, faces and equipment each week, so they grow brave enough to try new things. At Gymboree Play & Music Dubai, you play alongside your child while a teacher leads climbing, songs and group games on equipment built for little bodies and rearranged regularly to keep it challenging.
- Ages: Infant & Baby classes from newborn to 18 months, Toddler classes from 10 to 28 months, and Preschoolers classes from 22 months to 5 years.
- Why toddlers love it: climbers, slides and tunnels they're not allowed to climb at home.
- Good to know: it's indoors and air-conditioned, open 9 AM–9 PM, and rated 4.9 stars from 131 Google reviews (October 2026). A preview class costs AED 50.
"One of the top toddler activities I’ve come across in Dubai! The staff are so warm, friendly and patient. … My daughter loves the mix of “obstacles” and music." — Rosella A., Google review

2. Watch the sharks at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
Toddlers can stare at fish for a surprisingly long time. The aquarium sits inside Dubai Mall and is built around a 10-million-litre tank. You can see sharks and rays for free from the mall through a huge acrylic panel. A paid ticket adds the walk-through tunnel and the Underwater Zoo.
- Under-3s: a free look from the mall is often enough for a short attention span.
- Summer: fully indoors.
3. Meet the sloths at The Green Planet
The Green Planet at City Walk is an indoor rainforest with animals including sloths, anteaters and reptiles. It's a calm, leafy change from a mall, and toddlers love spotting animals up close. The park rules say an adult must stay with children at all times, and child tickets apply from age 2.
- Under-3s: a baby carrier makes it easier to look up into the trees together.
- Summer: indoors.
4. Head for the toddler zones at LEGOLAND Dubai
LEGOLAND Dubai Resort has a theme park and a water park, and its Little Builders guide is written for families with toddlers. DUPLO Valley has no minimum height restriction, Boating School is open from age 1, and there are Baby Care Centres with private nursing areas.
- Under-3s: stick to DUPLO Valley and the gentle rides. Some rides need children to be at least 80 cm tall.
- Good to know: the guide notes that small LEGO bricks are a choking hazard, so keep an eye on what goes in mouths.
5. Explore Children's City in Creek Park
Children's City is a hands-on learning centre at the southern end of Creek Park, for children aged 2 to 15. It's best for older toddlers who like pressing buttons and exploring. Creek Park around it has play areas with swings, slides and climbing frames.
- Under-3s: from age 2.
- Summer: the centre is indoors; save the park for cooler hours.
6. Feed the curiosity at Al Barsha Pond Park (free)
Al Barsha Pond Park is free to enter and built around a large lake, with a walking path, benches and shaded areas. The children's play area has a soft sand surface and plenty of shade. Bring a pram for the walk around the water.
- Under-3s: ideal for walking practice, watching the water and digging in sand.
- Summer: go early in the morning or after sunset.
7. Picnic in one of Dubai's big parks
Zabeel Park, Al Safa Park, Creek Park and Mushrif National Park are among the city's biggest green spaces, and all were open in 2026 according to Gulf News. Pack a blanket, a ball and snacks, and let your toddler run on grass.
- Under-3s: lawns are a soft place to practise running and falling over.
- Summer: cooler months are best.
8. Play in the sand at Kite Beach
Kite Beach in Umm Suqeim has no entrance fee and has changing rooms, showers, toilets and lifeguards. For a toddler, a bucket, a spade and the edge of the water make a whole morning.
- Under-3s: bring shade and go early. Stay within arm's reach near the water.
- Summer: early morning only.
9. Cool off at the Splash Pad, The Beach, JBR
The Splash Pad is a kids' waterpark at The Beach, opposite JBR. For many toddlers, water play is more fun than the sea itself.
- Under-3s: check the age guidance on the day.
- Good to know: pack a change of clothes and a towel.
10. Smell the flowers at Dubai Miracle Garden
Season 15 of Dubai Miracle Garden runs from 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027 in Al Barsha South 3. Children under 3 enter free, and it's open from 9 AM. For a toddler, a garden full of colour is a feast for the eyes.
- Under-3s: free entry.
- Summer: closed; it's a winter attraction.
11. Spot giraffes at Dubai Safari Park
Dubai Safari Park reopened on 12 October 2026 for its eighth season, open daily from 9 AM. The Arabian Desert Safari tour is included with admission.
- Under-3s: go early, bring a pram, and plan around nap time.
- Summer: seasonal; visit in the cooler months.
12. Take an evening stroll at Global Village
Global Village opened its 31st season on 14 October 2026, running through May 2027 and opening from 4 PM. Once the weather cools, it makes a lively evening out.
- Under-3s: a pram is a must, and an early evening visit fits better around bedtime.
- Summer: seasonal; evenings only.
13. Climb and slide at Gymboree open play, The Ripe Market
On weekends, Gymboree brings its play equipment to The Ripe Market at Dubai Police Academy Park, from 10 October 2026 to 2 May 2027, 9 AM–9 PM. Your toddler can climb, slide and explore in open play sessions from AED 50 for 30 minutes, and you can browse the market stalls before or after. It's open play only, not classes.
- Under-3s: yes; you stay and play alongside your child.
- Summer: seasonal; the market closes for the summer.
How to plan a day out with a toddler in Dubai
A good toddler outing is short, planned around sleep, and has a backup. These tips help:
- Work around naps. Morning outings usually go best. A tired toddler won't enjoy even the best place in town.
- Beat the heat. In summer, stick to indoor places from late morning to late afternoon. Outdoors, go early or after sunset, and bring water, hats and shade.
- Keep it short. One or two hours is often plenty. Leave while they're still happy.
- Mix busy with calm. After a loud, bright attraction, plan a quiet afternoon at home.
- Get outside when you can. The American Academy of Pediatrics says "more outdoor time is linked with improved motor development". Even 30 minutes in a park counts.
- Keep moving. The World Health Organization recommends that children aged 1 to 4 get at least 180 minutes of varied physical activity a day.
